These interactive experiences aren’t just limited to print publications, but can be incorporated within moving image also.
Here is another AXA insurance example, but this method of providing extra ‘hidden’ content has also featured in a few music videos too.
This is interesting… User experiences like this encourage consumers to interact with offline media through their phone (and other digital devices), which are then used to reveal extra online content. In this case the ‘missing’ part of the narrative within the Ad is revealed, adding another dimension to the printed publication.
This is something I will consider incorporating into the final design of this project, to add an interactive and possible social sharing qualities to my final outcome.
Feedback from peers, regarding my current project progress;
-Interesting references and mock-ups of ideas so far.
-Explore other methods of translating virtual information or environments into an offline setting. Perhaps I should try and re-do the phone visualization, but on a much larger scale, deconstructing it’s entire virtual content and re-presenting everything offline keeping the same graphic style used for display on the original handset. Maybe use a computer hard drive instead of a phone.
-Simply showing a deconstructed physical device may only be interesting to those intrigued by electronics and physics. This may lack an emotional element to the outcome.
-In order to produce an outcome that the audience will understand, I need to refine my message being communicated through the outcome. Considering how I intend the audience to react to the piece.
The deconstruction – Reconstruction of household appliances used to create ‘Weee Man’, a sculpture situated within The Eden Project in Devon, display’s mundane and redundant technological and household items in new way, challenging the audience’s perceptions on recycling.
Personally I think this sculpture also evokes an emotional response towards the appliances within its construction. Where these items may have once had alluring and glamorous qualities when new, re-presented together in a new form, instigates senses of disgust and wastefulness.
