The last two weeks work placement allowed me the opportunity to discuss my project with the design and UX teams at the agency. From these discussions, I have decided to slightly alter the ideas and outcome objectives within the project.
Reviewing the progress journey I have evidenced throughout this blog so far, I have realized that previous sketches and outcome ideas do not completely reflect the inspiration examples and interests I have been documenting. Therefore I have generated new ideas, developed from various discussions, as well as the brainstorm session last week.
One of the key points that arose from the session last week questioned how the project had defined a ‘digital possession’. Instead of focusing on the deconstruction of physical objects and it’s virtual contents, e.g. mobile phones, tablet computers and flash memory. Recognizing a ‘digital possession’ to also include the makeup of a user’s virtual identity such as; Facebook profiles, Twitter tweets, passwords and blogs was also discussed. Even though these ‘possessions’ exist entirely digitally/virtually, the possibilities to deconstruct and re-present the way in which they are used and display information, still remains.
Using this as a new approach, combined with the current inspirational imagery documented on the project blog to date, I have sketched out several new ideas that respond to the brief in a more abstract form, compared to previous sketches.
This session was very useful, providing me with an opportunity to discuss my current project progress with industry professionals at design agency; Head London.
The session highlighted new areas of research and work by other designers and artists, which initiated discussion around my project.
Using the agency’s technique of post-it notes and a whiteboard, I created a mind-map during the brainstorm, to map the discussion visually. This was then photographed (below), to enable myself to re-call the discussion later.

Tomorrow (Thursday 14th April 2011) I have been set-up with a slot in the large meeting room, to run a brainstorming session with a selection of the studio team. During this session I will discuss my project in more detail, aiming to generate discussion and highlight areas of development within my project.
Planning/notes to support the Brainstorm session will be uploaded shortly. This will be followed by photo documentation, as well as feedback on the project, once the session has taken place.
During my internship at digital agency HEAD London, I arranged to present my current final major project progress to the agency, in order to receive professional industry feedback on my progress so far, as well as critique to aid personal development regarding my presentation skills.

The agency was very accommodating, providing me with a projector, laptop and even pizza to fuel my audience of industry professionals. Feedback on personal presentation skills:-
‘In future, keep the steady pace you already had but spread-out the sketch slides to one drawing per slide, instead of a montage of 4. This way the it will be absolutely clear to the audience which sketch you are discussing at that point in time, regardless of the fact that you may have initially mentioned which one you were talking about before you explained it.’ Talking with hands – ‘Try to control your hand gestures when presenting. Over use of hand gestures, perhaps induced from nervousness, can be distracting to the audience.’ ‘Open your body up towards your audience more. Although you were stood in-between your presentation slides and us, you should be focusing less on your slides.’

I agree with Geoff’s comments on my project progression to date. The initial sketches and illustrations exploring possible project outcomes continue to remain too literal and obvious at this stage in the process.

Research continued…
Further research into using your personal digital possessions to interact with advertising and offline media led me onto ‘Junkyard Jumbotrom’.
I intend to experiment with this software, over the next few days, as a method of display, regarding my final project outcome, exploring creative possibilities.
